As a wedding photographer Orton Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues and one I go to most. Perhaps my favourite thing about Orton Hall is that it has 20 acres of gardens for us to explore! There’s a wonderful range of scenery including: An avenue of huge, ancient conifers, snowdrops in February, daffodils and bluebells in spring and honeysuckle in summer, a mini-hedge maze and great views of Orton Hall from under an ancient oak tree. The conservatory is a beautiful location for the ceremony and you can even get married outside by the bandstand. The Great Hall is a majestic location for the wedding breakfast and the first dance, with its high ceiling and grand chandeliers. In the evening the conservatory bar and courtyard become the chill out areas while the dance-floor is jumping in the Great Hall. A fabulous wedding venue choice in the Peterborough area.

We are currently staying at Orton Hall Hotel & Spa, having booked three rooms, and we are deeply disappointed with our experience so far. The historic building and beautiful grounds initially seemed promising, but the interior is incredibly dated and poorly maintained, making for an uncomfortable stay. All three rooms have had issues, including dirty bathrooms, rusty showers, and intermittent hot water, which makes simple tasks like showering quite frustrating. The bathrooms are outdated, featuring rusted towels, a missing toilet roll holder, and one light that doesn’t work. One of the rooms even has a stained corner chair. Additionally, the bedroom doors have gaps around the edges, providing little privacy, and they slam shut, resulting in a noisy night’s sleep. The gym is laughable, including one treadmill that awkwardly faces a small corridor leading to an open, dirty storage cupboard. We also tried the Ramblewood Inn, the hotel’s partner pub next door, and found it overpriced and disappointing. The food quality was low, clearly microwaved, and not worth the cost; the drinks were similarly unimpressive. The only small positive aspect is the generous tea and coffee tray, but when that’s the best feature of a stay, it really highlights the issues. Considering what we paid, this hotel offers shockingly poor value, especially in comparison to alternatives like the nearby Marriott, which we wish we had booked instead. Mr. Ravi Takhar (Art Hotels), who also owns Regal Care Homes, seems to have drawn inspiration from his care homes when designing this hotel, given the dated décor, poor layout, and lack of upkeep. We plan to raise these issues with management tomorrow to see if we can leave early, as this stay is not meeting our expectations in any way. If you’re considering Orton Hall, save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere. UPDATE: Spoke to management who refunded our last nights stay cost and offered to upgrade. Unfortunately the upgraded room was also considerably dirty and rotten. We packed our things and moved to the local Marriott.

My room was very dated for what it was. Ended up not staying and going down the road.

Comfortable and well appointed rooms within lush grounds and interesting heritage decor. Loved the huge room size. Very peaceful at night. Breakfast was good and offers both cooked English and continental. Has stairs and no lifts though, so travelers with heavy bags may need to use muscles. Staff very helpful though.

Excellent stay at a very nice hotel. Rooms can be a bit of a trek, we had to go out and back in to get to ours. Room was a good size and very comfortable. Restaurant was good and breakfast was top notch. Service from check in to check out was the best.

Great venue, but it's possibly the worst coffee I've ever tasted. Lack of staff, because they were busier than expected, meant delays in orders. Otherwise a good venue, plenty of parking and easy to get to.

Genuinely impressed by this place! The service was impeccable from the start until the end, and the location was simply breathtaking. I highly recommend booking breakfast. The food and service were top-notch. We were in room 134, and despite the fact that there were a few functions happening simultaneously, we couldn’t hear a thing. Don’t miss out on the spa! Also, be cautious when parking. The birds there can surprise you with some impressive poop bombs. Try to park as far away from the tall trees as possible.

Lovely setting and the rooms are fine but bathrooms are dated and desperately need refurbishment. Probably one of the best breakfasts around though.

This Spa hotel is great if you’re blind, don’t want any spa treatments and want to feel like you’re back in the 1980’s. Food in the pub not even worth mentioning. Hotel spa treatments fully booked (thank god ). The whole place should be demolished. And now I’ve just received this text from reception. “ Generally Generally, we composted on your room Could you please pop back over to the pub when you've got a moment? That would be great thank you bye.…” Avoid.

Pool room has rust and mold on ceilings ( particularly around pipe connections) and pathways to fire exits are always dangerously wet (staff should keep on top of this). We a aw someone showering in the steam room, as in lathering up and washing off in the pool. When I asked staff if they allow this they replied “no” but turned away and didn’t wish to listen to my concerns. Staff member also said she “couldn’t be bothered” to check a locker for a service users lost items. Staff members are periodically hostile and consistently rude, even when offered compliments on their work; it seems they should undergo public facing training because they are forcing the spa, and in turn the hotel, to lose custom - it’s a spa… but not a relaxing one with current staff members. Drinks are limited, overpriced and incorrectly served. The sauna is fantastic, although quite small… The steam room needs regularly cleaning but apart from that features essential oil aromas which feels like it does something. However I feel it important to note that the water often smells like blood. Like if there was a pool next to a butchers? I wouldn’t recommend and am unlikely to return.

Well this is a big old former manor turned into a hotel that’s rather nice. It was great to use the spa on arrival. I got lost a couple of times finding my room and the breakfast room which was actually funny. My room was clean and comfortable my only gripe was I was woken early by bottles being thrown into the recycling bin outside my window and the shower was lacking power.

I walk to Restaurant for lunch at noon, and mostly looked closed, had a pint and a Burger in the Ramblewood Inn. I have an appointment at 13:30.

I enjoyed my stay until an unexpected issue arose. I wasn’t informed about a loud Halloween party happening directly below my room (118) in the garden. Upon returning to the hotel at 5:00 PM, the noise was overwhelming, especially given the lack of double glazing, and made it impossible to relax or work, as I had planned. I understand that events like this can be part of the hotel’s offerings, but as a guest booking a 4-star hotel surrounded by parks, I did not expect such extreme noise disturbance, especially in the late afternoon! When I approached the front desk to express my concerns, I was told that the event would end at 9:30 PM. I felt that my request for assistance was not met, and no consideration was given. I ended up leaving the hotel in search of peace and quiet, despite having paid for the room. When I returned later that evening, and the noise was still on; I spoke to the manager, who informed me that the event finish at 9:45 PM and that it was only an extra 15 minutes... I was also told that my room was the closest to the event and that notes about such disturbances are usually sent in advance—however, this did not happen in my case. Had I known about the potential noise, I would have likely booked elsewhere. I was offered no alternative arrangements or compensation for the disruption. Overall, I’m disappointed by the lack of proactive communication and the way my concerns were handled. It did not meet the standard of service I expect from a 4-star hotel, particularly in a tranquil setting.

Szép hotel, gyönyörű épület és udvar. Szoba jól felszerelt, tágas és kényelmes. Reggeli finom, választék nagy. Az étkező és termek meseszépek.

Very beautiful hotel from the outside. We stayed in a triple room and it was pleasant and good value, with very comfy beds. The corridors and communal spaces feel a bit tired and dated. But breakfast was good. Size of the pool was great, and not busy when we used it. The changing rooms were a bit gross/hairy/dirty. We had dinner at the ramblewood inn next door and it was disappointing - overpriced mediocre food in a restaurant room that was tired and no atmosphere. However for a triple room with breakfast and pool, it was £110 which seemed good value - for this reason I'd stay here again, just wouldn't recommend eating at the pub next door!

The rooms looked dated and a bit tired, staff were friendly and helpful. The spa and pool area was grubby with flaky paint and rusty decor. Price wise it was good value.

A very relaxing experience to have. It's a perfect place to go for some peace and comfort. Went with my wife for a weekend, the antique castle style is something that gives a touch of luxury and a little bit of royalty, I would say. Free parking available, nice restaurant in the hotel and the spa area wasn't packed when we were there. It has a heated pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room. Perfect for couples. Traditional British breakfast, very good :)
